Malaysian Christians Accuse Government Of Defacing Bibles

By

Christian organizations in Malaysia are accusing the government of defacing more than 5,000 Bibles by stamping them with serial numbers and the words “For Christians Only.”

The government agreed earlier this week to release 35,000 Malay-language Bibles that had been held in customs since 2009 because they use the word “Allah” for God.

A court ruled that year that religions other than Islam have the right to use the word Allah for God, but the government in the Muslim-majority country is appealing the ruling.

Government officials say this week’s decision to release the Bibles was meant as a gesture of good will. But Christian leaders said Thursday they are offended by the stamps that were placed in more than 5,000 of the Bibles.

The Associated Press quoted a statement issued by the Christian Federation of Malaysia saying the nation’s Christian community “is deeply hurt that the government has desecrated and defaced the Bible.”

I guess the Malaysian government missed the verse in the Quran that says, “I believe in all the scriptures that Allah has revealed. . . Allah is our Lord and your Lord. . . Allah will bring us all together, for to Him we shall return.” (Surah 42:15)

You must have missed the part of the koran that abrogated all of the tolerant and peaceful versus for the mecca period.

“None of Our revelations do We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, but We substitute something better or similar: knowest thou not that Allah hath power over all things?” [Al-Qur’an 2:106]

Just as well Malaysia is one of the more “tolerant” Muslim countries.

Afraid they’ll see what a true “religion of peace” looks like?

Imagine if the tables were turned and Christians stamped “for Muslims only” on a bunch of Korans!

Why are Islamic leaders so afraid of the bible? I suggest that they feel threatened by the Jesus’ tolerance and outreaching principals. Do most Christian leaders attempt to hide the Koran from Christians? I think not. Perhaps Christians should be encouraged to read Koran to find out what Islam is really about.
