Egypt: Army Says No Plans To Pardon Mubarak

By

Egypt’s ruling military council on Wednesday dismissed reports that it is ready to pardon ousted president Hosni Mubarak or any other members of his family.

The military council said in a statement published on Wednesday that it would not intervene in judicial affairs.

“There is absolutely no truth to what has been reported by the media that the supreme council is moving towards a pardon for former president Mohammed Hosni Mubarak or his family,” the ruling council stated on its Facebook page.

Mubarak is reportedly set to ask the Egyptian people to forgive him and his family members in an address to the nation.

However, many supporters of the January 25 revolution have been claiming that an apology is not enough in this case.
