IAEA Willing To Send Delegation To Iran

By

The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency has offered to send a high-level delegation to Iran to inspect matters of concern to the international community.

Reuters reports that Yukiya Amano made the offer to the Islamic Republic in a letter to its nuclear negotiator and expressed every hope that a specific date for the visit will be agreed upon as soon as possible.

Amano said such a visit would “clarify the issues” raised in recent IAEA reports.

In its latest report, issued last week, IAEA states its concern that Iran may be trying to build nuclear weapons.

Iran has rejected the report, insisting as always that its nuclear program is peaceful and designed solely for energy production.

The IAEA board of governors will begin a two-day meeting tomorrow in Vienna to discuss the latest report.
