UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has called on Israel to stop violating Lebanon’s sovereignty and withdraw beyond the demarcation separating the two countries.
“I condemn Israel’s continuing violations of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Lebanon,” said the secretary-general in a report sent Thursday to members of the United Nations Security Council.
In addition, Ban Ki-moon asked the Israeli Air Force to cease carrying out regular flights over the territory of the neighboring country.
The Jewish state must withdraw from the occupied Lebanese territories in accordance with a number of UN Security Council resolutions. In addition, members of the Security Council made an annual appeal to Israel to abide by the demarcation line in the resolution extending the mandate of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon.
