Elections Begin In Spain, PP Seen Winning
By Ria Novosti
Over 35 million Spanish voters will go to the polls on Sunday for an election likely to bring in a new conservative government.
Opinion polls indicate that the center-right People’s Party, led by Mariano Rajoy, has a clear lead over the ruling Socialist Party.
The Socialists have caused the voters’ discontent with high unemployment, austerity measures and a deplorable economic situation.
The country’s borrowing rates were above 6 percent for most of this week, just 1 percent lower than the unsustainable 7-percent level.
