Iranian Commander Says Revolts Can Reach Jordan

The commander of Iran’s Qods Force, Brigadier General Qassem Soleimani, has said Iran is present in southern Lebanon and Iraq and that these countries are acting in “this way or another” by the will of Tehran and its ideas.

According to him, the Islamic Republic of Iran can lead to the formation of Islamic governments there. Quoted by ISNA news agency, he desribed the current Arab revolts as “Islamic consciousness” and insisted that they were inspired by the Iranian revolution which toppled the Shah in 1979.

However, regarding the events against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, the region’s most important ally of Iran, Soleimani said Iran is completely supporting the regime, adding: “most of the Syrian people loyal to the government.”

Soleimani stated that after the attacks of September 11, the West tried to intimidate the Muslim countries, but the results were contrary to its will “in Iraq and Afghanistan”, describing the U.S. withdrawal from the two countries as defeat.

Regarding the possibility of the eruption of protests in Jordan, Soleimani claimed the revolts are slowly taking an Islamic character and evolve over the time along the lines of the Islamic Revolution of Iran. “The Islamic Republic of Iran can control these revolutions and direct them towards the enemy.” He stressed: There is also possibility for this in Jordan.”
