Syria: At Least 75 Killed Amid Calls For Ceasefire

The Red Cross has called for a daily two-hour ceasefire in Homs in order to supply the needs of the civilians. The current situation requires that an immediate decision would be taken for a ceasefire, the president of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Jakob Kellenberger, said on Tuesday.

The opposition Free Syrian army has backed such a move.

On Tuesday at least 75 people were killed and 300 wounded across Syria. Most of the victims were reported in Homs.

Meanwhile, Russia takes the initiative to present the UN Security Council with a new resolution on Syria. The Russian ambassador to the UN Vitaly Churkin said in New York that “in the coming days” he will table a draft resolution that includes “concrete steps towards the solution of humanitarian problems” in Syria.
