Mexico: Pemex Explosion Leaves 3 Dead, Over 100 Injured

An explosion at a Mexico state oil company Pemex facility in the south-east state of Veracruz has killed at least three people and injured 136, according to media reports.

The blast occurred at the Pemex petrochemical facility’s chlorinate 3 plant near the port of Coatzacoalcos, one of the company’s top oil export hubs.

The cause of the explosion has not been determined.

Media is reporting that hundreds of people had been evacuated from the site and schools have been closed.

A Pemex official is reported as saying that local oil exports were not affected by the blast.
