Former La Scala Tenor To Become Catholic Priest

By

Emanuele Angiola, former tenor of the famous La Scala opera house in Milan, will be ordained on Saturday as a Catholic priest, the Vatican Insider reported.

Angiola, 31, has decided to forsake his career as an opera singer in favor of becoming a missionary with The Priestly Fraternity of the Missionaries of St. Charles Borromeo (FSCB).

The FSCB was founded in Rome in 1985 by Fr. Massimo Camisasca and obtained pontifical recognition in 1999.

It started with a group of seven priests and 10 seminarians, and over the years grew to more than 100 priests and 50 seminarians.

Today, the Fraternity is present in 15 countries such as Canada, the United States, Portugal, Taiwan, Kenya, and Russia, its most prominent member being the archbishop of Moscow, Paolo Pezzi.

Angiola will serve as a Christian missionary in Taiwan.
