Iran’s Intelligence Ministry forces in the southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan have captured three individuals who had links with the Israel’s Mossad spy agency, reports Iranian media.

According to the IRGC-linked Tasnim News Agency, the Intelligence Ministry’s office in Sistan and Balouchestan said in a statement that the three arrestees were involved in disseminating classified information and documents.

The prosecutor general of the province announced at a press conference on Tuesday that the arrestees had plans to assassinate Iranian nuclear scientists.

“The arrest of these Mossad operatives came after a complicated intelligence operation that lasted for eight months of monitoring,” Prosecutor-General of the Southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan Mehdi Shamsabadi said, according to the Fars News Agency. He added that the case is under investigation and soon a lawsuit will be filed against them.

“The defendants have confessed that some of them had been in direct contact with Mossad officers,” he stated.
