Spain: Barcelona Club Signs Chile’s Sanchez For $54 Million

Barcelona Football Club (FC) signed on Thursday Chilean forward player Alexis Sanchez from Italian Udinese Club for a total of Euro 37.5 million (USD 54 million), making him the European champion’s first major signing during the offseason transfer market.

The Spanish club said in a statement on their website that “Udinese and Barcelona FC have reached an agreement on the transfer of Alexis Sanchez, with the cost of the deal is 26 million Euros with added variables of 11.5 million.”

The Spanish club said the player was due in Barcelona this weekend. Medical and the signing of the contract, which is for five years, will take place on Monday.

The 22-year-old is coming to Barca from the Italian club Udinese, where he has played for the last three seasons. Last season he was voted best player in Serie A, after scoring 12 goals in 31 games.

Sanchez will be the first Chilean to play for the Catalan giants and gave clear indications that he wanted to join them in preference to other clubs.

Last night, Barcelona Coach Guardiola that his team still wants to sign Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas before the end of August, which will make the whole team more complete and ready for future competitions.
