CIA Controls Weapon Supplies To Syrian Opposition – OpEd

A source with the US administration has confirmed that the CIA agents are controlling the supplies of weapons and the ammunition to the Syrian opposition.

American secret service operatives who are deployed in the south of Turkey are deciding to whom the weapons must be supplied.

American secret service operatives are distributing illegal assault rifles, anti-tank rocket launchers and other ammunition to Syrian opposition. The transportation of weapons across the border is carried out by illegal mediators from the Muslim Brotherhood movement, while Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar are financing these supplies.

The US operatives are keeping track of the supplies not to let the insurgents of Al Qaeda insurgent lay hands on the weapons. Meanwhile the intensification of raids of the Syrian opposition insurgents was mainly thanks to the support of Al Qaeda. The bloodshed in the province of Homs in late May and in the city of Hama in the early June, make experts compare them with the tactics Al Qaeda used for organizing terrorist attacks.

The fact that the CIA was coordinating the supplies of weapons to the Syrian opposition is not new. But now this information has been confirmed by a high ranking source in the US administration. This is only one of the fronts of the military campaign aimed at the overthrow of Bashar Assad, president of the Institute for Middle East, Evgeny Satanovsky says.

“This is part of the big picture. Libyan insurgents are heading to Syria through Turkey and Jordan and they are financed by Qatar. The weapons including the weapons from the Balkans are supplied to Syria through Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq and this is financed by Saudi Arabia. In the media the West has launched an intensive ideological war trying to justify the need to overthrow the regime of Bashar Assad. These are the fragments of the big picture of the West’s strategy on liquidating secular regimes in Arab countries. This strategy is prevailing today. It is clear that for Doha and Er-Rhyad the liquidation of Assad in Syria is part of the campaign on fighting Iran and also Shiite and secular regimes in the Arab world.”

The same source in the US administration has reported on possible additional aid to the Syrian rebels in the form of satellite data on deployment and movement of the governmental troops. The US administration is considering the establishment of its own local spy service to help the opposition.

All this gives ground to Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to compare the situation in Syria with the recent overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi regime in Libya performed by the West and a number of the Persian Gulf monarchies. The minister reminded that in conditions of total embargo on selling weapons to any side of the conflict practically open supplies of weapons to the Libyan opposition were taking place. Moreover France and the countries of the Persian Gulf publicly announced that they were supplying weapons to the Libyan rebels. Now the situation repeats in Syria. That is why Sergey Lavrov doubted that the West and the countries of the Middle East would continue to observe weapon embargo with regard to the participants of the conflict in Syria. But without observing this embargo it is impossible to settle the Syrian crisis. It is obvious that further use of double standards will lead to the civil war, which is actually already on in Syria.
