Obama Promises He Will Stop Iran’s Nuclear Weapons Program – OpEd

During his third face-to-face debate with GOP presidential challenger Mitt Romney on Monday night, President Barack Obama promised that under no circumstances would he allow Iran to possess nuclear weapons as long as he remains in the Oval Office.
“As long as I am president of the United States, Iran will not get a nuclear weapon,” the president asserted as he faced his rival in their last debate two weeks before American voters choose a White House occupant.
In addition, Obama said he will continue to support Israel in its ongoing conflict with terrorists and hostile Muslims.
Romney, his election team, and many retired military, intelligence and law enforcement officials have labeled Obama as being weak on Iran in stopping the Islamic republic from trying to obtain a nuclear bomb while pressing hard on Israel. Obama had angered many Israelis when during a televised interview he said Israel was “one of Washington’s closest allies in the region.”
“During that interview the reporter failed to inquire what nations besides Israel are close allies of the United States,” said political strategist Mike Baker.
A former intelligence officer and police commander, Sid Franes, said he watched Obama’s performance with great interest.
“I kept wondering who was buying Obama’s — to use Joe Biden’s term — malarkey? In 2008, he promised the voters the world. They ended up with a world of debt, joblessness, divisiveness and lack of respect by our foes overseas,” said Franes.
The President also has displayed a propensity for deceit and arrogance, according to former NYPD detective Iris Aquino. “He epitomizes the corruption-prone politician from Chicago and gets away with it because of a fawning and ignorant news media and an increasingly politicized and corrupt justice system,” she said.
As far as the winner of the debate, most of the viewers who spoke to this writer believe the news media will tell Americans Obama “won” the debate. For example, retired Army officer Theodore “Teddy” Carson claims many in the news media, much like the government, are corrupt or ideologues pretending to be news reporters.
