The US has officially accused China of handing over missile technologies to North Korea, the White House press-secretary Jay Carney has reported. The scandal broke out after Pyongyang demonstrated launching installations for new medium-range missiles at a military parade on the 15th of April.

US experts have discovered that the Chinese company Hubei Sanjiang supplied North Korea with components for self-propelled missile launching installations. This is the opinion of expert Andrey Volodin from the Institute of World Economy and International Relations.

“This could be interpreted as China’s assistance which is provided on a permanent basis. Assembly of the product is carried out in North Korea. We could speak about direct deliveries from China. This secret military and technical cooperation does not only exist between China and North Korea but between other countries as well.”

Commenting on the situation, the Chinese Foreign Ministry declared that the Chinese government fully observed all international agreements on the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and nuclear missiles. Meanwhile, according to a spokesman of the US Department of State, the UN Sanctions Committee could check the information about North Korea possessing new Chinese military equipment.

In any case, Pyongyang has indirectly provoked a new scandal between the US and China in the field of spreading missile technology.

The situation is aggravated by information from South Korean sources to the effect that North Korea is completing preparations for the third nuclear test in its history.

Some experts do not rule out that North Korea could carry out the nuclear test at the time of the G8 summit scheduled for the 18th -19th of May in the US President’s country residence in Camp David.

Moscow is closely watching the developments on the Korean Peninsula because they have a direct impact on Russia’s security, a source in the Russian Foreign Ministry declared commenting on the information about Pyongyang’s readiness to carry out the third nuclear test. Moscow’s firm stand is that the situation must not be allowed to end up in a crisis, it is essential to find a diplomatic solution to the problem.
