The hospitals in Riyadh regions have been put on alert Saturday as the sandstorm, currently hitting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, exacerbates chest diseases.
The numbers of medical and nursing staff at the hospitals’ patient care units and chest wards have been increased, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) quoted Director General of Medical Directorate of Riyadh Region Dr. Adnan Al-Abd Al-Karim as saying.
“The move aims to provide proper care for the persons suffering from asthma or any other respiratory diseases, particularly the elderly and young patients, ” Al-Abd Al-Karim noted.
He called on all people to follow the preventive health programs, remain indoors as long as possible and use the mouth masks.
The kingdom, particularly the eastern regions including Riyadh, is currently hit by severe sandstorm, coupled with a few showers which reduced visibility and caused health, as well as traffic, problems.
