Egypt: Protester Killed In Cairo Violence

By

A protester died Saturday as clashes continued in Egypt. Ahmad Sorour reportedly was killed after being run over by security forces as they attacked a sit-in in front of the cabinet building in the early hours of Saturday. Another protester was hit by a bullet, according to Al Masry Al Youm.

Protesters, who accuse the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces of trying to retain control of Egypt, have rejected Kamal Ganzuri’s appointment as PM, saying he was not the man to lead a transition to democracy.

Hundreds of demonstrators gathered outside the cabinet building to block Ganzuri from entering the building, shouting “Down with the rule of the military” and “Ganzuri is a former regime leftover.”

They started throwing stones at several security force vehicles that encircled them.

Meanwhile, Egypt’s military ruler Hussein Tantawi held separate talks with presidential hopefuls Mohamed ElBaradei, the former head of the UN nuclear watchdog, and Amr Mussa, the ex-head of the Arab League, the official MENA news agency said later Saturday.
