The Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) has launched a “clean election campaign” in the wake of the state assembly elections next year.

The NBCC also launched a booklet on “clean election campaign” titled “Engaging the powers: Elections- A spiritual issue for Christians”.

NBCC general secretary Reverend L. Anjo Keikung said the booklet is to educate people and church leaders about their rights and the truth.

He said the code of conduct for the polls laid down by the Centre is good enough to conduct a clean and fair election.

However, he lamented that the spirit for the polls is not inculcated.

NBCC president Reverend Keviyiekielie Linyu said the right to vote, the power to uproot and pull down, to build and plant is a precious a gift of God to humans,”NBCC Working Committee Convener Hovithal Sothu, in his foreword of the booklet, said it is an attempt to strengthen the ongoing Christian social mission of the NBCC.
