Saudi Arabia Crown Prince Holds Talks With Jordan’s Premier

Crown Prince Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense, yesterday held talks with Jordan’s Prime Minister Faiz Al-Tarawneh on major regional and international issues and ways of boosting bilateral ties.

The Jordanian prime minister congratulated Prince Salman on his appointment as crown prince and deputy premier, following the death of Prince Naif on June 16.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Defense Minister Prince Khaled bin Sultan, Prince Saud bin Naif, head of the crown prince’s court and his special adviser, and other officials.

Prince Salman also met with Sheikh Muhammad Al-Sabah, chief of national security in Kuwait and discussed issues of mutual concern. The Kuwaiti official congratulated Prince Salman on his new appointment. Interior Minister Prince Ahmed attended the meeting.

Also yesterday, Prince Salman received a telephone call from Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who extended his condolences on the death of Prince Naif and congratulated him on his appointment as crown prince.

The Turkish premier had earlier telephoned Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah to express his condolences on the death of Prince Naif. During the telephone conversation, the two leaders also discussed major regional issues.
