Putin Phones Saudi King Salman To Discuss Syria Crisis

By

Russian President Vladimir Putin has spoken to Saudi Arabia’s Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman about finding a solution to the Syria crisis, just two days before he is due to address the UN on the issue, the Kremlin said.

In a telephone conversation at Russia’s behest, the two men “exchanged views on regional security matters, first and foremost, in the context of finding ways to settle the conflict in Syria,” a statement posted to the Kremlin’s website said, according to AP.

They also discussed “building more effective international cooperation in the fight against Daesh and other terrorist groups,”it said.

The SPA said: “Putin congratulated the king on Eid Al-Adha” and “expressed condolence on Thursday’s stampede accident.”

On Monday, Putin will address the General Assembly in New York to outline his plan for Syria, notably the idea of expanding a coalition, which would include Assad’s army, to fight Daesh.

There is not much the Saudi’s can do to help Assad and more importantly not much pressure the US can apply. Because the weapons and cash was sent before ISIS was a declared terrorist organization so it was legal. Everyone knew the fundraising was public even taken from wages, when they said to the US lets send weapons and the US said no and they walked out. The compromise for only small arms. Recruitment stop, prison or Jihad, as the US use to do jail or Iraq stopped. It is very hard to stop foreign fighters from even western countries. As are private donations via the Islamic banking system. So the insurgency is selfsustaining. So Assad may blame the Gulf and want them to do something to help him, as does Russia and the US. The gulf is not involved and has no control over any of the Mujahideen. See you think they are like Iran constantly meddling pulling the strings. Sorry it is not the case.
