Muslim Peace Coalition USA and Indian Minorities Advocacy Network (ImanNet) leaders Seemi Ahmed and Dr. Shaik Ubaid have condemned the heinous terrorist massacres in Norway and expressed their heartfelt condolences to the victims and their families.
Addressing a meeting of civil rights and human rights activists in New York they expressed alarm over the connection of the Norway terrorist with international Hindutva supremacists. They demanded that FBI and DHS investigate militant Hindutva supremacist groups in the US. They appealed to Indian consulates and Hindu temples not to allow Hindutva groups the use of their premises.
News reports have described Anders Behring Breivik, the terrorist behind Norway bombings and shootings that killed more than 80 innocent civilians as a Christian fundamentalist. Breivik considers himself a social conservative and claims to have been trying to form alliances with anti-Muslim right wing terrorist groups from Europe, US, Israel and India.
Dr. Shaik Ubaid stated, “The Hindu-supremacist Hindutva movement in the US is a well funded and powerful movement that has been involved in brainwashing American Hindu children and youth in the US with their brand of violent anti-Muslim and anti-Christian hate. These groups have been actively involved with the recent Islamophobic campaign in the US.
According to ImanNet, for the last thirty years they have been busy infiltrating and gaining power among the various professional and trade associations of the Indian diaspora in the Americas, Europe, Africa and Far East. For the past two decades they have been using the growing economic and political clout of India on the international stage to infiltrate the power centers in the US under the guise of being”representatives of the Indian diaspora”. The more militant among the Hindutva fronts have openly formed alliances with white American hate groups and known Islamophobes.”
Immediately after the Norway terrorist massacre, Babu Suseelan a well known Hindutva supporter who is notorious for spewing hatred against Islam and Muslims circulated an email using the same language as Anders Breivik against “Muslims and Marxists”, said ImanNet.
Seemi Ahmed said, “Such groups in India are offshoots of the Hindu supremacist movement Hindutva which drives inspiration from Hitler and Mussolini. This movement even ruled India in early 1990s through its political wing BJP. Hindutva groups were involved in the assassination of Gandhi in 1948 and have been implicated in numerous anti-Muslim and anti-Christian pogroms and massacres in India. Indian law enforcement agencies have recently arrested many Hindutva terrorists for their role in a spate of terrorist bombings in India. Their leaders regularly visit the US to raise funds.”
Both leaders expressed concern that the same hate-filled propaganda is being propagated in the US where thousands of trained and armed militias already exist. They advised Islamic Centers, mosques and Muslim schools in the US to increase security.
