Libya: Gaddafi Son Says Not Dead, Appears On TV
The Libyan television aired late Monday night “live” images of Khamis Gaddafi, the son of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, in Tripoli’s Bab Azizia, after rumors about his death.
These rumors claimed Khamis, who leads one of Gaddafi’s most powerful brigades, had been killed during an air strike carried out by the international coalition.
He appeared in military uniforms among supporters of his father, who had gathered at the headquarters of Colonel Gaddafi to form “human shields” to protect “their leader.”
The media have also reported that Khamis Gaddafi (27 years old) was the victim of a suicide attack carried out by a Libyan pilot. According to British newspaper The Sun, he died in hospital.
The U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton stated on March 23 she had received information about the death of Colonel Gaddafi’s son. Clinton said: “However, the evidence is not sufficient” to confirm the death.
