Mexico City Introduces ‘Dog Poo-Powered’ Free Wi-Fi

By

An advertising company in Mexico City said it would trade free Wi-Fi for dog waste in a bid to encourage owners to clean after their pets, a RIA Novosti correspondent reported.

Special receptacles, already installed in ten parks in the capital, calculate the weight and provide all visitors with a corresponding number of free Wi-Fi minutes.

“More dogs – more minutes,” the company said in its ad, saying that 70 grams of dog waste would be rewarded with 20 minutes of free Wi-Fi for everyone in the area.

It is unclear how the receptacles would distinguish dog waste from other types of garbage that might be thrown into it.
