Libya: Spokesman Says Gaddafi Ready To Negotiate

By

Fugitive Libyan leader Col Muammar Gaddafi who on Saturday was rumored to have fled Libya to Zimbabwe is said to be ready to start talks to transfer power, reports claimed on Sunday. His spokesman told the AP news agency negotiations would be led by Col Gaddafi’s son, Saadi. According to him, Gaddafi was still in Libya.

Meanwhile, opponents of Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe conveed he had helped Gaddafi to flee Libya and take refuge in his country. According to Mugabe’s opponents, their spies had noticed Gaddafi arriving in the country on a Zimbabwe Air Force jet in the early hours of Wednesday morning. They added that the Libyan strongman was taken to a mansion in Harare’s Gunninghill suburb.

“There’s no doubt that Gaddafi is here as a ‘unique guest’ of Mugabe,” the Daily Mail quoted a spokesman for Zimbabwe’s opposition Movement for Democratic Change, as saying.

Gaddafi has been trying to negotiate since the “NATO” attack began. The United States is out to kill Gaddafi, not negotiate with him. If the U.S. negotiates, we would have to recognize that Gaddafi has legal rights and would have to justify our illegal actions.
