Hamas: Leadership Not Leaving Damascus

The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas denied a report by Al Hayat newspaper that its leaders are planning to move outside of the Syrian territory.

A member of the Political Bureau of the Hamas movement Izzat Rishq said that “this information is unfounded at all, and comes as part of scheme to disrupt the Hamas and Syria relationsm” stressing that Hamas is still operating from Damascus.

The newspaper said that Hamas political leaders gave decided to move to Doha, the Qatari capital due to the growing unrest in Syria.

It said Egypt and Jordan refused to host Hamas leaders on their soil.

On another issue he said that signing of the Palestinian reconciliation deal between Hamas and Fatah will be held next Wednesday in the presence of the movement’s political bureau chief Khaled Mashaal and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, the Secretary General of the League of Arab States Amr Moussa, the leadership of the Palestinian factions and the ambassadors of Arab countries.
