Shankaran Nambiar is a Fellow at the Institute of Future Studies (MASA), Kuala Lumpur. He has been a Visiting Fellow at the Crawford School of Public Policy, Australian National University and a distinguished member of the academic advisory council at the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA). Nambiar's international engagements include being a visiting scholar at the International Monetary Fund and fellowships at the ASEAN Studies Center, Universitas Gadjah Mada and the ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute, Singapore. Renowned for his insightful op-eds in publications such as Nikkei Asian Review, East Asia Forum, the Interpreter, CNA and Jakarta Post, Nambiar is also an author with a notable work entitled "Sen's Capability Approach and Institutions", along with four books on the Malaysian economy, the most recent being, "Regaining Control: Malaysian Economic Policy During Covid and After".
