According to Belgain media reports Tuesday, HEMA sacked the Muslim employee a year ago after customers complained about her headscarf.

The employee, who was not named in the media reports, started to wear the Hijab after she converted to Islam.

CGKR Director Jozef De Witte was quoted saying that “we took some time to take this decision. We had talks with the company on several occasions in a bid to find a solution that was within the law, but in vain.”
