GCC States Bristle At Syria’s Brutality

By

The GCC states watch with increasing frustration and fury the ratcheting up of death and destruction in Syria, which has not spared the lives of children, women, and the elderly, said a statement issued today by the Secretariat General of the GCC.

The brutality of the Syrian regime against the innocent can only be described in the most despicable of words, as what the regime is perpetrating is nothing short of a genocide against an unarmed populace. A genocide dealt without pity or modicum of humanity or morality, said the statement.

In view of that, the GCC states find it imperative that Arab states meet next week to take decisive measures against the fiendish escalation of violence in Syria, whose victims are the Syrian people, and which has stretched unabated for almost an entire year with no viable solution in sight, said the statement.

While the GCC states deplore in the starkest terms the taking of innocent lives in Syria by an unfeeling government, which is sinking deeper in a conflict not against a sworn adversary but against its own people, these states are appalled by the power grab in that country at the expense of the dignity and safety of the Syrian people, said the statement.
