By

On Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 8:00 PM, we attended a stunning performance of Carl Orff’s world-famous Carmina Burana at the Atatürk Cultural Center. The soloists were outstanding, the orchestra was magnificent, and the ballet choreography was perfectly synchronized with the music. As art lovers, we thoroughly enjoyed this mesmerizing performance.

Staged with a massive 250-member ensemble, Carmina Burana brought together the soloists, orchestra, choir, children’s choir, and ballet dancers of the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet, along with the Modern Dance Istanbul team. Carl Orff’s powerful music, blended with dance and technological innovations, created an unforgettable visual and auditory spectacle on stage.

The full technical capabilities of AKM’s Türk Telekom Opera Hall were utilized, featuring a rotating stage, moving platforms, and synchronized sofito pipes, making the stage itself appear to dance. This extraordinary production was directed by Volkan Ersoy and Ayşem Sunal Savaşkurt, with Zdravko Lazarov conducting the orchestra.

For those who missed it or wish to experience it again, this captivating performance of Carmina Burana will be staged again on February 10, 15, and 19, 2025. An unmissable event awaits all art enthusiasts.
