A Texas jury has awarded Nevada-based software company VirnetX $368 million in damages in its patent suit against Apple, BGR.com reports.
VirnetX claims 45 patents in the U.S. and abroad relating to real-time communications and other security technologies were allegedly violated by Apple’s FaceTime video chat application.
VirnetX, which had previously settled a similar patent suit with Microsoft for $200 million, had initially sought upwards of $700 million in damages. Apple reportedly plans to appeal the jury’s verdict.
