North Korea Says Rocket Being Fueled

By

(RFE/RL) — North Korea says it has begun fueling a rocket that is due to carry a rocket into space, but which the West suspects is a long-range missile test.

The head of the North Korean satellite control center did not tell foreign journalists when fueling would be completed nor when the launch will take place.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has warned Pyongyang not to go ahead with the launch, saying it “would be a direct threat to regional security.”

Clinton also said Washington will pursue action at the UN if the North goes ahead with its plan.

The U.S. ambassador to the UN, Susan Rice, said the Security Council agreed Pyongyang was planning a “provocative act,” which will only leave the North more isolated internationally.
