Iran Vows To Beat “Enemy” But Ready For Nuclear Compromise

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Saturday in a speech that his country would win the “conspiracies” and “tricks” made by the “enemies”, whether they are sanctions, military attack or soft war.

“We must not overlook the enemy. The enemy comes in through various channels. One day he comes with sanctions. Another day, it comes with military attack. And one day he comes with soft war, “said Iran’s supreme leader in a speech in the north-eastern region of the country.

The statements by the Supreme Leader come as tension mounts between Iran and the West about Iran’s nuclear program. On Thursday, U.S. Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta said that the United States faced a massive cyber-attack, believed to be directed by Iranian experts.

Meanwhile, the spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry Ramin Mehmanparast said Tehran was ready to be flexible in order to appease the concerns of the international community about Iran’s nuclear program and to conduct negotiations on uranium enrichment.

According to the spokesman, the negotiations could take place if Tehran is guaranteed deliveries of enriched uranium for its civilian nuclear program. “If we receive assurances about the supply of uranium enriched to 20% for the Tehran research reactor, our representatives are ready to conduct negotiations on uranium enrichment to this level,” said Mehmanparast in Eurasian Media Forum, which was held in the Kazakh capital, Astana.

The diplomat, at the same time, stressed that this initiative did not deprive Iran from its right to produce its own enriched uranium to 20%. “All countries have the right to do so,” said Mehmanparast, adding that the Iranian nuclear program was of a purely civil character.
