Turkey Threatens Syria Over Attacks On Consulates
By KUNA
Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu warned Monday his country would take a “decisive attitude” following recent attacks on its diplomatic missions in Syria.
Speaking at a parliamentary committee meeting, the Turkish foreign minister even vowed that his country would continue to support the Syrian people’s rightful struggle for freedoms and reform.
Earlier on Saturday, protesters tried to break into the Turkish Embassy in Damascus and into the country’s consulates in the cities of Aleppo and Latakia to denounce a recent Arab League decision to suspend Syria’s membership in response to its crackdown on the eight-month uprising.
Turkey formally protested the attacks, evacuated families of diplomats as well as nonessential staff and issued a warning against travelling to Syria.
