Syria: Several Wounded In Sunday Protests

Reports said that some 300 people protested Sunday in the Torch Square in Sweida, the biggest city in the Druze stronghold of Jabal Al Arab.

According to media reports, Syrian regime loyalists attacked the protesters and wounded at least 10 of them.

Two were reported in serious condition.

Clashes reported also in al Karya.

Loyalists to Syrian president Bashar al Assad attacked the protesters and injured several of them. Three of the injured people were in serious condition.

A Facebook page called The Syrian Revolution 2011 urged all the Syrians to protest Sunday to honor those killed by the Syrian security forces in the past month.

Several peaceful protests were reported Sunday in several major cities in Syria. In Aleppo , Homs, Daraa, Hama , the Damascus suburb of Douma, Talbeesah, Jablah and other areas .

The protests called as Syria marked Sunday its Independence Day, (Evacuation Day).

The state news agency SANA said “the 65th annual anniversary of independence nowadays is marked at a time in which the Syrian people are exposed to a big conspiracy hatched against their security and stability.”
