Israeli army prepares for Palestinian demo in W. Bank


Israeli army began Friday organizing strategic plans to contain possible demonstrations by Palestinians similar to the once carried out in Egypt, Tunis and Iran.

Israeli Military initiated rapid response and strategic vantage points throughout territories for a possible Palestinian protests and demonstrations, Jerusalem Post said.


The Palestinians could resort to non-violent resistance in the absence of peace negotiations, it added Palestinian Authority would prevent this from happening until after elections in September, a senior officer in Israeli army noted.

According to the senior officer, the army is discussing ways to contain large demonstrations launched in various parts of the West Bank.

Meanwhile, Palestinian Authority may allow or even encourage civilians to launch a so-called non-violent resistance in West Bank against Israel, according to the paper.
