On Saturday, Their Majesties the King and Queen will present the Mexican writer with the Miguel de Cervantes National Literature Prize in Castilian Spanish, the highest Spanish literature award.

Notedly, two important events take place this year: the 40th anniversary of this award and the 4th centenary of the death of the writer who has given his name to this award.

A narrator, essayist, poet and playwright, Fernando del Paso forms part of a great generation of Latin American writers from the second half of the 20th Century. He is the author of such emblematic novels as José Trigo, Palinuro of Mexico and News from the Empire. His essays include El coloquio de invierno, Yo soy hombre de letras and Viaje alrededor del Quijote.
