Facebook Shuts Down Page Calling For Third ‘Intifada’ – Israeli Radio
By KUNA
Facebook removed a page calling on Palestinians to hold a third “Intifada” (uprising), according to Israeli radio report on Tuesday.
The Israeli radio said the web page was pulled down after a request by Israeli authorities.
Israeli Cabinet Minister Yuli Edelstein said that the “page was used to instigate violence against Israel and to exploit freedom of expression as a principal.”
Last week, Edelstein sent a letter to Facebook owners asking them to shutdown the page, noting that the page calls on the uprising against Israel in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
Edelstein’s letter to Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg noted that the page included “wild incitement.”
Edelstein applauded Facebook for removing the page, saying he hoped the action would be an example to others and deter similar postings in the future.
