Spain: Barca Completes 40 Mln Euro Swoop For Fabregas

Spanish outfit, FC Barcelona announced on Monday that they had completed the signing of Spanish midfielder, Cesc Fabregas, on a five-year deal worth 40 million euros from England’s Arsenal.
The former Arsenal captain – who was previously a Barcelona graduate – moved to his boyhood club, after a transfer saga that lasted three seasons, and after spending eight seasons with the North London club.
The Spanish international signed the contract after passing a medical at Barcelona’s Camp Nou Stadium in a ceremony attended by the club’s President, Sandro Rosell, the Spanish outfit said in a statement on its official website.
The club set an unbelievable buy-out clause of 200 million euros, the statement added.
In a press conference, the newly-signed Barca man said he wanted to prove his worth and that he aimed for success, which he regarded a major challenge in his new club.
The former Barcelona academy graduate added he had chosen the closest and toughest route to his heart.
He also said he was ready to join his new team mates in their upcoming Super Cup second leg home match against Real Madrid on Wednesday.
The contract states 29 million euros to be paid initially to Arsenal, followed by six million euros in variables according to the player’s performance. It was also reported that Fabregas had surrendered five million euros of his salary to aid the switch.
