Bahrain Says Iranian Statements Are Interference In Its Internal Affairs

Bahrain’s Foreign Ministry fiercely rejected its Iranian counterpart’s statements on the presence of Peninsula Shield forces in Bahrain, describing the notion as an interference in the internal affairs of the Gulf country.
Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian had earlier declared the presence of Peninsula Shield forces in Bahrain as an “occupation”, adding that this presence is irrational and had robbed the opportunity for a political solution to the political crisis in the Gulf kingdom.
In a statement released by Bahrain News Agency, the Bahraini Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Regional and Gulf Cooperation Council Affairs Hamad Al-Amer said that the Iranian deputy foreign minister “continues to reiterate fiercely rejected statements, that are a clear breach of the internal affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain and that are a clear distortion of the facts behind the role of the Peninsula Shield forces.”
“At a time when the Kingdom of Bahrain seeks to ensure the patriotic unity of its people and instill a sence of cooperation among the Bahraini society, we find that the Islamic Republic of Iran continues to choose the path of incitement, provoking division and sedition.”
“Bahrain continuously seeks, in its regional and international relations, to instill the aims and principles of the UN and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and looks forward to a positive interaction from Iran in its regional surroundings to enhance safety and stability and to support international peace in the Gulf region,” he suggested.
“Achieving safety and security come by attaining good neighbourly relations and without interfering in the internal affairs of other nations,” he stressed, indicating that “Iran’s policy towards the kingdom and a number of GCC states has led to these relations being turbulent.”
This policy has increased the possibility of dangers, which add to Iran’s problems of fulfilling its international commitments and “building relations with the GCC built on sound and solid foundations that help keep the region far from conflict and secure the security, safety and stability of the region, ” he continued to say.
