The governor of Nigeria’s Kaduna state and five more people, including a former Nigerian national security adviser, were killed on Saturday in a helicopter crash in the country’s Bayelsa state, Al Jazeera reported.
An Agusta helicopter with two pilots and four passengers en route to Port Harcourt nose-dived and crashed in the oil-rich state of Bayelsa at around 3:30 p.m. local time (14:30 GMT).
President Goodluck Jonathan has expressed his “deep and heartfelt condolences” to the families and friends of the deceased.
The presidential statement said that those killed in the crash were Kaduna state Governor Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa, former National Security Adviser Gen. Owoye Azazi, their two aides and the pilots.
