(RFE/RL) — Macedonia’s Interior Ministry says that 20 people have been arrested in connection with the murder of five Macedonians near the capital, Skopje, last month.

Interior Minister Gordana Jankuloska told the media on May 1 that those arrested will face multiple charges.

Jankuloska said that the suspected murderers are radical Islamic militants who have fought against NATO troops in Afghanistan.

No further details are currently available.

The Ministry says further details will be announced in the coming days.

The five murders were committed on the 13th of April. The victims were shot at close range with automatic weapons.

Four young men aged 18 to 20 years and one 45-year-old resident of Creshevo village near Skopje were killed.
