France Stock Market Tumbles 3.6 Percent On Poor US Job Data

By

Shares on the Paris Stock Exchange tumbled almost 3.6 percent Friday after poor jobs data was published in the United States and European and US markets headed south.

The CAC 40 index of “blue chip” shares was off 3.59 percent at the close, dropping to 3,148 points after a relatively good rally this week.

Traders at “Boursorama” brokerage said volume was moderate at around USD 4.8 billion but “positions were being sold off in the late afternoon”.

Since the European debt crisis emerged several months ago, the CAC 40 has lost as much as 20 percent of its value, before clawing back some ground in recent days.
