US President Barack Obama extended Friday full backing to the measures adopted by Eurozone leaders to address the debts’ crisis in Greece thus regaining confidence of financial markets around the globe.
The US and Europe are “major partners” and each one affects the other, Obama told a news conference following the two-day G20 summit in this French city.
He said the European Union (EU) rescue package which was approved in Brussels, Belgium, was very important to prevent further deterioration of the crisis in Greece.
“Our European partners” have placed critical steps to step up and provide fundings for the banks and extend a helping hand for Greece, he said.
Obama said it was in the interest of the US that Europe procede on the right economic-revival path.
There are many economic challenges, he said, calling for providing new jobs for the middle class segment.
