Taliban Claim Executing 15 Pakistani Soldiers

By

Amid reports of peace talks and major breakthroughs achieved in negotiations, Taliban Thursday claimed killing fifteen Pakistani soldiers, who were kidnapped in an attack on their base.

Ehsanullah Ehsan, a purported Taliban spokesman, told newsmen in a telephonic conversation from an unknown location that they have killed 15 Frontier Constabulary (FC) personnel and dumped their bodies in North Waziristan tribal agency.

The soldiers were kidnapped after dozens of militants attacked FC forte in Tank district on December 23.

Ehsan said that the killing of soldiers was to avenge security forces operation in the neighbouring tribal area that killed a senior Taliban commander.

The report of soldiers’ killing came as the concerned authorities were holding peace talks with Pakistan-based Taliban and, on the other hand, the United States is holding peace negotiations with Afghan-based Taliban. The Taliban have agreed to open office in Qatar.

Pakistani authorities have claimed that major breakthroughs in talks have been achieved and that they will be shared with the public in the coming few days.
