Oman Warns Acts Of Vandalism Will Be Prosecuted

Oman has warned that those who commit arson and vandalism will not be spared and action would be taken against those proved guilty of causing damage to the private of public properties, reports BNA.

“Statute of the State guarantees freedom of opinion and expression but at the same time it also has the text of the sanctity of Public funds and it is obligatory on the citizens and residents to maintain them,” according to a statement issued through Oman News Agency Saturday morning.

The statement referring to recent riots, burning, vandalism and assault on public property and private properties in Sohar as well as areas of the country, stressed that the Prosecution Department was following the events with great interest.

It has also been observed that roads have been blocked for the traffic movements, which caused extensive overall damage. “These acts are against the Islamic law, tradition and morality.”

The statement said that those who indulged in the acts of arson and caused damage to public as well as private properties would be put on trial.

The Public Prosecutor appealed to citizens to provide information and any evidence they may have against those who were responsible for causing damage to the public/private properties, according to BNA.
