Is It Possible To Hold Classical Music Festivals, Concerts, And Opera Performances In Prince Islands? – OpEd

By

Chamber music and piano concerts have been organized specifically for a limited audience in the high-ceilinged halls of the grand mansions for a long time. However, such events have not yet reached a wider audience. Many households have classical pianos.

The renowned piano master İlhan Baran composed his pieces in his home located on the Tepecik hills. In the magnificent but empty Armenian church of Büyükada, only masses and concerts for the congregation are held in the summer months.

Opera arias can be listened to in the Roman Catholic San Pasifiko Church. In the past, small chamber music concerts were held at the Splendid and Anatolia Clubs. Classical music programs were also organized in the garden of Çelik Gülersoy’s mansion, now serving as the Courthouse.

The people of the Islands cannot attend operas and concerts held on the mainland because there is no possibility of returning at midnight. Classical music sounds spread from CD players, Spotify, and TRT3 FM radio in homes. Are there candidates in the Adalar municipal elections who can organize classical music festivals on the Islands? The concern of the candidates is to bring plenty of rich Arab tourists to the island, provide them with restaurant and hotel services, change the zoning plan, build a cable car, and transport them by motorboat.

However, what is needed is a mayor with the infrastructure and intellectual accumulation to organize cultural activities, concerts, and festivals on the Islands.

Is there such a person?
