“The Hobbit” Movie Finishes Principal Photography

By

“The Hobbit” officially finished its principal photography on Friday, July 6, four months before the first movie hits theaters. The two prequels to “Lord of the Rings” trilogy, “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” and “The Hobbit: There and Back Again”, have been shot back to back since March 2011, AceShowbiz said.

Director Peter Jackson made the announcement in New Zealand via Facebook. ”We made it!,” he wrote. ”Shoot day 266 and the end of principal photography on The Hobbit. Thanks to our fantastic cast and crew for getting us this far, and to all of you for your support! Next stop, the cutting room. Oh, and Comic Con!”

“The Hobbit” will come to San Diego Comic-Con’s Hall H during a Warner Bros. Pictures panel at 2:30-5:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 14.

“An Unexpected Journey” will be released December 14. Wellington, New Zealand, will host the world premiere on November 28 at the Embassy Theater. The second movie, “There and Back Again”, will be released a year later on December 13, 2013.
