Tsunami Hitting Hawaii, No Immediate Reports Of Damage

By

Tsunami waves have reached the U.S. Pacific state of Hawaii.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

Emergency officials in Hawaii had ordered residents to evacuate all low-lying coastal areas due to the tsunami threat triggered by the massive earthquake that struck Japan early Friday.

The Hawaii-based U.S. Tsunami Warning Center issued the tsunami warning for the state, hours after the 10 meter tsunami swept over the northeastern coast of Japan.

The center also issued warnings for Mexico and parts of Central and South America.

Meanwhile, the Alaska-based Tsunami Warning Center issued a tsunami warning for the entire U.S. West Coast, including Alaska, Washington state, Oregon and California, plus the northwestern Canadian province of British Columbia.
