Pakistan To Release 89 Indian Prisoners

Pakistan Tuesday said that it will release eighty-nine Indian prisoners including fishermen, a day after India released thirty-nine Pakistani prisoners.

The Government of Pakistan has conveyed its decision to the Indian Government to release 89 Indian fishermen/prisoners included in the Indian list that was handed over to Pakistan during the Interior/Home Secretaries meeting in New Delhi, said Foreign Office in a statement.

These Indian nationals will be handed over to the Indian side on Friday, it said.

The Indian side has handed over 39 Pakistani prisoners on Monday from the list that Pakistan had given to India during the Interior/Home Secretaries meeting.

Majority of the released prisoners were held on violation of the maritime border and at least four of them are suffering from mental disorder.
