India-Pakistan: Well Done President Trump, What Next? – OpEd
War is always a curse and a nuclear war is disaster for all. Leadership plays key role in changing lives, in bringing prosperity, altering the world into progress and light, leaves no stone unturn in bringing peace in the world and cooperation among the countries and burns midnight oil for co-existance.
President Trump deserves claps for initiating ceasefire between Pakistan and India and saving the entire region even the globe from the disaster of nuclear war. Mr. Trump in his statement on Truth Social said, “I am very proud of the strong and unwaveringly powerful leadership of India and Pakistan for having the strength, wisdom, and fortitude to fully know and understand that it was time to stop the current aggression that could have lead to to the death and destruction of so many, and so much. Millions of good and innocent people could have died. Your legacy is greatly enhanced by your brave actions. I am proud that the USA was able to help you arrive at this historic and heroic decision. While not even discussed, I am going to increase trade, substantially, with both of these great Nations. Additionally, I will work with you both to see i after a “thousand years,” a solution can be arrived at concerning Kashmir. God Bless the leadership of India and Pakistan on a job well done.”
Trump in his statement has vowed to increase the US trade with India and Pakistan. Both countries have huge potential of trade with America and could be big destinations for US investments. In 2024 the bilateral trade between India and America was 129 billion dollar while during the same year American trade with Pakistan was 7.3 billion dollar.Trump also highlighted the mediation on the dispute of Kashmir — that is the bone of contention between both countries since the division of united India.
Now what next? Increasing trade with both countries is laudable. Whereas, at the same time, Trump’s wish of resolving the dispute of Kashmir is admirable. Meanwhile, in this globalised world, states are dependent on one another. In the midst of disputes, third parties play pivotal role and they should realise that they cannot pass from sight after every crisis and then leaving the disputes unaddressed.
Trump’s desire of increasing trade with Pakistan and India and resolving the dispute of Kashmir needs commitment and will. There are already available UN resolutions on this issue. What is needed is Trump’s full time engagement with the leadership of both states for achieving peace and prosperity in the region through increasing trade and solving the dispute of Kashmir.
