Iran Says Welcomes Constructive, Serious Talks Without Preconditions

By

Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili welcomes the “political resolve” of the six major world powers to return to the negotiation table over the Iranian nuclear energy program.

In a letter to the office of EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton, Jalili stressed the necessity of conducting constructive and serious talks without preconditions to achieve long-lasting cooperation.

On February 15, Jalili sent a letter to Ashton saying Iran is ready to restart negotiations over its nuclear energy program with the P5+1 — Britain, China, France, Russia, the US plus Germany.

On March 8, the P5+1 also announced readiness to resume multifaceted talks.

Jalili added that he welcomes Ashton’s stance on respecting Iran’s right to use peaceful nuclear energy according to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
